DJ Promoter News and Information
Xpress Party Experience at November in Glasgow 1st Jul 2006
This was the first Xpress event to be held in the November club, where they take up a new monthly residency. As a venue, November is certainly a step up from their previous residency at The Q Club. Ideally located in The Rooftop in Princes Square, November was formerly known as October Cafe.

Resident DJ Rod MacLeod was on the decks first and music-wise, the emphasis was on deep, euphoric grooves of an uplifting nature, covering the period from mid 1990s through to early 2000s.
You wouldn't really call his set 'old skool', which can have so many connotations, but it was certainly music from what was a heyday period in UK and Ibiza clubbing history.
Guest DJ Stu Hirst was up next and started off with spinning some more upfront tunes, and his sounds was reminiscent of the kind of sets you often hear in the likes of Space in Ibiza.
During the second half of his set, sensing that some folks in the crowd were looking to hear some tunes that they knew, Stu also wove some older classics into his set. However, rather than be too obvious, Stu tended to either play some lesser known remixes of said classics, or he simply used his skills on the mixer to give them a harder-edged, unique flavour.
The night was completed through until 3am by resident DJ Jim Haggarty. Jim played a set similar to Rod's, but he also included some more recent, familiar tunes to keep the 'mixed' crowd entertained.
I refer to a 'mixed' crowd in the nicest possible way, in that for some it was primarily about the music but for others they were simply looking for an enjoyable night out with their mates in a nice venue, and there were a hell of a lot of fit looking girls who fell into the latter category :)

I love this glass effect in the centre of the ceiling in November, featuring landmarks from around the city of Glasgow. Plus it also looks a bit like a flying saucer...
